Biography

Dallas Hunt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures at the University of British Columbia. A member of the Wapsewsipi (Swan River Nation) from Treaty 8 territory in Northern Alberta, his research interests encompass Indigenous literatures, Indigenous theory and politics, and Canadian literature, among others. His work includes creative and critical writings published in respected journals such as the Malahat Review and Canadian Literature. Hunt's children's book, 'Awâsis World-Famous Bannock,' published by Highwater Press in 2018, was nominated for the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award. He teaches a variety of courses focused on Indigenous literatures and de/anticolonial theory, while also engaging in research that explores themes such as urban Indigeneity, environmental justice, and settler colonial studies. His academic contributions also feature selected journal articles and book chapters on topics related to Indigenous narrative practices and the regulation of precarity in literary representations.
