Biography

Damián Galante is a Lecturer in Theoretical Physics at King’s College London and a Stephen Hawking Research Fellow. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina in 2012 and completed his PhD at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada in 2016, under the supervision of Professors Alex Buchel and Rob Myers. After his PhD, he held a postdoctoral position in the String Theory group at the University of Amsterdam until 2019. His research focuses on the emergent nature of spacetime in the context of AdS/CFT correspondence, utilizing techniques from condensed matter and quantum information theory to explore the quantum origins of black hole horizons. Damián's work includes probing cosmological event horizons from a holographic perspective and investigating time-dependent scenarios in far-from-equilibrium dynamics. He has contributed to various significant publications in theoretical physics and has been recognized for his contributions to public engagement in science through awards such as the UKRI Stephen Hawking fellowship.
