Dan Bernard is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at McGill University. He earned his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and has conducted post-doctoral research in molecular endocrinology at Northwestern University. Before joining McGill in April 2006, he held an independent position as a Staff Scientist at the Population Council’s Center for Biomedical Research at Rockefeller University. His current research focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in pituitary hormone synthesis, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo approaches. The projects in his lab mainly concern the signal transduction mechanisms of the members of the transforming growth factor β superfamily that regulate the synthesis of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), the mechanisms of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) signaling in pituitary gonadotrope cells, and the hypothalamic-pituitary control of thyroid hormone production.
