Dr. Dan Chia

Biography

Dan Chia serves as an Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology. He has previously accumulated 17 years of industry experience with companies such as Delphi, Siemens VDO, and Continental, between 2001 and 2017. Dan holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He has contributed to over 10 patents and held the position of Director at Continental, where he focused on advanced development in infotainment connectivity products. Dan's main research areas are applied research involving artificial intelligence and deterministic methods, specifically aimed at ensuring safety operations for Autonomous Vehicles and Intelligent Transport Systems. He is also actively engaged in social innovation, leveraging his expertise to foster community awareness and drive social benefits. In addition to his teaching duties, Dan has been involved in various appointments at SIT, including Deputy Centre Director at the Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre and has received several awards for teaching excellence throughout his career.
