Biography

Dan Dubowitz is a Reader in Architecture and the International Lead at the Manchester School of Architecture. With a robust background in architectural design, Dan has collaborated with notable practices in London, Hong Kong, and New York, including Peter Eisenman Architects. In 1996, he established the Masters in Advanced Architectural Design program at Strathclyde University while simultaneously starting his design practice, Heisenberg Collaborative Arts in Glasgow. In 2003, he founded Civic Works Ltd to develop cultural masterplans for post-industrial areas, applying innovative frameworks to engage communities and transform urban identities. Dan's work spans research and practice in urbanism, focusing on alternative methods of city-making that meaningfully engage citizens in transformative projects. His research output includes monographs such as 'Fascismo Abbandonato', 'Wastelands', and 'Citizen Manchester', alongside numerous exhibitions and reports. His current interests lie in 'Collaborative Urbanism' and the visual research projects connecting citizens with the urban experience.
