Dr. Dan Fox

Biography

Dan Fox is a writer, filmmaker, musician, and author known for his contributions to contemporary literature and arts. His notable works include 'Limbo' (2018) and 'Pretentiousness: Why It Matters' (2016), both published by Fitzcarraldo Editions. His essays and reviews have appeared in prominent publications such as n+1, Paris Review, and Financial Guardian, reflecting a wide-ranging interest in art and culture. He served as an editor and staff writer for Frieze magazine for twenty years, becoming co-editor from 2014 to 2018. Fox was a juror for the Tate Museum’s Turner Prize and Guggenheim’s Hugo Boss Award, highlighting his active engagement in the art community. In 2021, he received the Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant, acknowledging his impactful writing. Currently, he is the senior editor of The Yale Review, contributing to the literary discourse through his editorial work. Additionally, Fox co-directed the BBC-commissioned film 'Other, Like Me: The Oral History of COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle,' which explores influential cultural movements and has gained recognition at international festivals, being nominated for the 2022 Grierson Award.
