Dan Ma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. He received his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine in 2015. His research focuses on advancing quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology by bridging the fields of MR physics, signal modeling, artificial intelligence, and clinical translation. Dr. Ma's work emphasizes the development of novel MRI techniques, particularly Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting (MRF), which allows for the non-invasive quantification of multiple tissue properties in a clinically feasible timeframe. His current projects aim to optimize and integrate these techniques into clinical practice, enhancing the early detection and characterization of diseases such as epilepsy, brain tumors, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Dr. Ma has received notable honors including being a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors and a Junior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance Medicine. He is also involved with teaching graduate courses in independent study within the biomedical engineering discipline.
