Biography

Dan Robinson is a Professor and the Associate Director of Academics and Head of Design Production Programs at the College of Arts & Architecture. He joined the faculty at the School of Theatre at Penn State in 1992, where he teaches courses in scenic design, scenic art, and period styles. Prior to Penn State, he served as an Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at Ithaca College and was an adjunct professor at the Conservatory Theatre Arts at Webster University. His regional university work includes designs for Classical Theatre Harlem, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, United Solo Festival, Mill Mountain Theatre, and many others, including collaborations with prestigious events like the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Additionally, Robinson has contributed to television by designing scenic art for WPSU Public Television. He earned his MFA from the University of Missouri -- Kansas City under the mentorship of John Ezell and holds a BFA from Webster University, guided by Carolyn Ross. Robinson is a member of USITT and USA Local #829 for Scenic Design and Scenic Artist divisions.
