Dan Williams is one of Seattle’s sought-after performers, a soloist, orchestral musician, teacher, and recording artist. He has served as the principal oboist for the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, and has held positions with the Harrisburg and Binghamton Symphonies. He has played principal oboe for leading organizations such as the Seattle Symphony and the Seattle Opera. His performance of Bach’s Double Concerto with Joseph Silverstein and the Northwest Chamber Orchestra in Seattle was praised for his beautiful tone and considerable musicality. A 1999 review of the Vaughan-Williams Oboe Concerto in the Bellingham Herald highlighted his consummate musicianship, noting his easy command of the subtle shades of color and phrase, allowing the oboe to approach the expressive range of the human voice. Williams currently teaches oboe at the University of Puget Sound and has served on the faculties of Western Washington University and the University of Washington School of Music. A native of Seattle, he received his musical training at the Juilliard School and Western Washington University, where he was voted Outstanding Graduate by the music faculty.
