Dr. Dana Portenier

Biography

Dana Dale Portenier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Duke University. She specializes in minimally invasive bariatric surgery and is recognized for her innovative approaches to weight management for patients with obesity-related complications. Dr. Portenier has an extensive educational background, having received her M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Medicine in 1999. She is actively involved in research focused on mechanisms directing airway remodeling in obese asthma and has held numerous fellowships and grants to further her work in bariatric surgery. She has also been involved in various clinical studies examining the efficacy of different surgical procedures in weight management.
