Biography

Dana Randall is a Regents’ Professor and Associate Dean of Access Advancement at Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Computer Science. She serves as the Co-Executive Director of the Institute for Data Engineering Science and is an Adjunct Professor in Mathematics. Randall earned her A.B. in mathematics from Harvard University and her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research centers on randomized algorithms, stochastic processes, and connections between computer science, discrete mathematics, and statistical physics. She is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, a National Associate of the National Academies, and a Sloan Fellow, in addition to being recognized as an NSF Career award recipient. Randall has also taken on leadership roles within the academic community, serving as Program Chair for the SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms in 2011 and the SIAM Conference on Discrete Mathematics in 2016. She has previously directed the Algorithms and Randomness Center at Georgia Tech and has had significant affiliations with both the Office of the Dean and various centers focusing on algorithms and randomness.
