Dr. Dana Seitler

Biography

Dana Seitler is a Professor of English and the Director of the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto. Her teaching and research focus on nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American literatures and cultures, queer theory, sexuality studies, feminist theory, and the cultural studies of science and visual culture. Seitler's academic contributions include authoring the books 'Reading Sideways: Queer Politics and Art in Modern American Culture' (Fordham University Press, 2019) and 'Atavistic Tendencies: Culture, Science, and American Modernity' (University of Minnesota Press, Fall 2008). She has published scholarly articles in notable journals, addressing topics like biopolitics, queer narratology, addiction, aesthetics, and the intersection of sexuality with historical narratives. In addition to her academic work, Seitler engages in various administrative responsibilities within her department and contributes to contemporary discussions on cultural and visual studies.
