Dr. Dani Guzman

Biography

Dr. Dani Guzman is an Instrument Scientist at Australian Astronomical Optics – Macquarie University, with 20 years of experience in scientific instrumentation. His expertise includes working with scientific detectors, astronomical instruments, and medical devices utilizing adaptive optics. He has pioneered the application of artificial intelligence in adaptive optics for astronomy and has designed and built numerous cryogenic systems for visible and infrared instruments. Dr. Guzman is actively involved in research related to adaptive optics applied in astronomy and space microscopy, as well as scientific instruments for space missions. He is also keen on supervising PhD students interested in topics such as wide-field microscopy using adaptive optics and space situational awareness. His education includes a Master’s degree in Physics (summa cum laude) focused on Wide-Field Adaptive Optics from Durham University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (summa cum laude) from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Dr. Guzman has held positions including Chief Engineer at Sky-Walkers SpA and Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
