Biography

Daniel Allcock is a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in group theory, Lie theory, and algebraic geometry. He earned bachelor's degrees in mathematics and physics from UT Austin in 1991 and obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996, under the supervision of Richard Borcherds and Andrew Casson. He has held positions at the University of Utah and Harvard University before returning to UT Austin as a faculty member in 2002. His research focuses on the structure and classification of complex hyperbolic reflection groups and their connections to algebraic geometry. Throughout his career, Allcock has contributed to the understanding of Kac–Moody algebras, hyperbolic reflection groups, and the geometry of moduli spaces. In 2012, he was named a fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
