Biography

Daniel Black completed his undergraduate education at Melbourne University and received his PhD from RMIT University. He has taught at RMIT and currently works at Monash University. His research focuses on technological embodiment and the ways in which human action and perception are influenced by, and inflected in relationships with, technology. He has written and edited books, including 'Digital Interfacing: Action Perception Technology' and 'Embodiment Mechanisation: Reciprocal Understandings of Body and Machine'. He has contributed to various journals such as 'Body & Society' and 'Theory, Culture & Society' with articles examining contemporary culture and media in Asia. Black is a member of the Film, Media, Communications, and Journalism program within the Monash University Institute of Graduate Research, with supervision interests in interfaces, video games, robotics, artificial intelligence, and Japanese popular culture.
