Biography

Daniel Boivin has been teaching Evidence Law at the Faculty of Law for over 30 years. He is a partner at Gowling WLG and a member of the Advocacy Group in Ottawa, where he practices law with a focus on health law, notably as counsel for the Canadian Medical Protective Association. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court, and the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to Evidence Law, he has also taught Trial Advocacy and has given lectures in health law and civil litigation, as well as on language rights. He presents on health law, Evidence Law, and advocacy skills for various organizations. Throughout his career, Daniel has been actively involved in promoting access to justice in Francophone communities in Quebec. He has served as past president of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l’Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association’s French Speaking Common Law Members Section, among other community organizations. He is also involved in amateur sports and sits on the board of Ski Québec Alpin, which governs competitive alpine skiing in Canada.
