Biography

Professor Daniel Bulte completed his BSc (Hons) in Physics in 1997 and obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from the University of Tasmania. He later took a postdoctoral position in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto, joining the FMRIB Centre in Oxford in 2004. He was appointed to his current position in September 2016. His research primarily involves analyzing MRI data to create models of vascular physiology and metabolism. He holds an honorary Senior Research Fellowship at the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging and frequently collaborates with researchers in the Departments of Oncology and Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. He is passionate about outreach and public engagement, actively involved in university outreach events and lectures. His recent publications include studies on the validation of transcranial Doppler ultrasound in relation to BOLD-fMRI, and his current projects focus on clinical imaging techniques that measure blood flow and metabolism across various diseases, including dementia and cancer.
