Daniel T. Chiu is Bruce Montgomery Professor of Chemistry, Endowed Professor Analytical Chemistry, and a Washington Research Foundation Professor at the University of Washington, Seattle. He earned his B.A. in Neurobiology and B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993 and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Stanford University in 1998. After his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University and joined the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry in Fall 2000. With over 200 publications and 200 issued patents, his research is focused on nanomaterials, microfluidics, new instrumentations for ultra-sensitive bioanalytical measurements, and digital assays. He has received various honors, including the American Chemical Society National Fresenius Award and the Pittcon Achievement Award, and was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2011. He is also recognized as a Keck Distinguished Young Scholar in Biomedical Research and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.
