Daniel Columbus is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan. He completed his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD at the University of Guelph in 2004, 2008, and 2012, respectively. Afterward, he undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center, Baylor College of Medicine. He joined the Prairie Swine Centre in 2015 and became a Research Scientist in 2016. His research focuses on the interaction of nutrition and health, nutrient utilization in swine, and securing over $4 million in research funding as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. His work has received support from organizations such as NSERC, the Government of Saskatchewan, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Swine Innovation Porc, and various industry sponsors. He has served as the Western Director for the Canadian Society of Animal Science and has been an Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Animal Science. As an educator, he is involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching and has trained more than 20 highly qualified personnel, including undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research assistants. He has authored 29 peer-reviewed scientific publications and given 23 presentations.
