Daniel Coutu received his PhD in Experimental Medicine from McGill University. He is the Research Chair in Regenerative Orthopaedic Surgery at the Ottawa Hospital and serves as an Assistant Professor in the Regenerative Medicine Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). Dr. Coutu's research is centered on the biology of skeletal stem cells, focusing on developing novel therapies for patients with debilitating conditions that have unmet clinical needs. His lab explores four main areas of research: firstly, the fundamental biology of skeletal stem cells; secondly, improving tissue regeneration through the repair mechanisms of these cells; thirdly, the development of advanced quantitative imaging techniques; and fourthly, the examination of the interactions between skeletal cells, blood and immune cells in the bone marrow. His work aims to enhance our understanding of skeletal stem cells and advance treatment strategies in orthopaedic surgery.
