Biography

Daniel Davis is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he has taught since 1999. He received his PhD from Oxford University and has studied linguistics and Celtic languages at Harvard and Oxford. Before joining UM-Dearborn, he taught linguistics for eight years at the University of Hong Kong. His research interests encompass a range of topics in linguistics, particularly focusing on world Englishes, the history of the English language, and various English dialects including American English and Arab American English. Davis serves as the Co-Editor of the journal World Englishes published by Wiley and is the Executive Director of the International Association of World Englishes (IAWE). He has contributed significantly to the field through his extensive publications, including works on grammar and cultural perspectives in linguistics. His academic endeavors aim to enhance understanding of the diverse forms and evolutions of the English language in various cultural contexts.
