Biography

Since 2019, Daniel Drewski has worked as a Postdoc on the "Debating Legitimacy Borders" project at the Excellence Cluster "Contestations of Liberal Script" at Freie Universität Berlin. He received a Young Scientist Fellowship from the Center for German Studies at Peking University in 2019. Prior to this, he was a research associate from 2016 to 2019 in the Department of Macrosociology at the Institute of Sociology at Freie Universität Berlin. Drewski completed his PhD at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) at Humboldt University of Berlin, focusing on the topic "Europeanization and Symbolic Boundaries among European Elites". He has also served as a research associate in several projects including one on transnational human capital and social inequality and another studying emotional ambivalence in naming practices among migrants. Drewski's academic interests lie in European sociology, migration, and qualitative research methods. His publications include studies on symbolic boundaries and migration that have appeared in notable sociological journals and have garnered awards, including the 2020 Dissertation Award from the German Sociological Association (DGS).
