Biography

Daniel C. Esty is the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University, where he holds joint appointments at Yale Law School and directs the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy. He specializes in corporate sustainability, climate change, environmental law and policy, and trade law, teaching various courses that explore the intersection of these fields. Esty's academic work includes writing and editing fourteen books and numerous articles focused on climate change, sustainability, and their implications for corporate strategy and Innovation. He has held various leadership roles including serving as a commissioner for Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and as a member of the U.S. delegation that negotiated the 1992 Framework Convention on Climate Change. Esty also contributed to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, assisting in the development of a sustainability agenda for the global trading system.
