Biography

Daniel Freund is an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research focuses on optimization techniques, stochastic modeling, and revenue management, particularly in transportation and online platforms. He has contributed to humanitarian immigration work and has received several distinguished awards, including the PSOR Paper Award (2nd place, 2024), MSOM OM Paper Award (2023), and the Applied Probability Society Publication Award (2021). Daniel earned his BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick and his MS and PhD in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University, where he was advised by David B. Shmoys. Prior to joining MIT, he was a postdoc with Lyft's Marketplace Labs team. Daniel also serves on ACM program committees for prominent conferences in the field.
