Biography

Daniel Fridman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously held the title of Assistant Professor at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies. His research focuses on the intersections between economy and culture, examining themes such as neoliberalism, financialization, economic policy in Latin America, consumer culture, and the sociology of money. He authored the book "Freedom Work: Embracing Financial Self-Help" published by Stanford University Press in November 2016. Before joining the University of Texas at Austin in 2013, Fridman taught at the University of Victoria and served as a fellow at the Centro de Estudios Sociales de la Economía (CESE) at Universidad Nacional de San Martín. Additionally, he studied sociology at the University of Buenos Aires and worked for the National Statistics Institute in Argentina.
