Biography

Daniel Gillion is the Julie Beren Platt Marc E. Platt Presidential Distinguished Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Gillion's accolades include the 2014 Book Award from the Race, Ethnicity, Politics Section of the American Political Science Association for his book 'Political Power Protest: Minority Activism Shifts Public Policy' and the 2017 W.E.B. Du Bois Book Award from the National Conference of Black Political Scientists for 'Governing Words: Political Dialogue Race, Public Policy, Inequality America'. His publications are found in prominent academic journals and he contributes to various popular media outlets.
