Biography

Daniel Gillis is a Full Professor and Statistician at the School of Computer Science, University of Guelph. He has established four major interdisciplinary research programs that encompass computer science, statistics, public health, pedagogy, and natural resource management. His research involves collaboration with government agencies, non-profit and charitable organizations, industry players, indigenous communities, and academic partners. Over his career, he has trained numerous undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows. In 2016, his research programs were awarded more than $5 million in funding, over half of which he served as Principal Investigator. He has been recognized as one of Ontario's outstanding university teachers by the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations.
