Biography

Daniel Greif is a practicing cardiologist and a Professor of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Co-Director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center. Greif graduated with a B.S. in chemical engineering from Stanford University and earned his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He conducted research at Harvard University in the lab of Dr. F. William Luscinskas, focusing on leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Following his medical residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Greif continued his training as a postdoctoral fellow under Dr. Thomas Michel, examining the biochemistry of endothelial nitric oxide synthase. His research lab employs multidisciplinary approaches to investigate blood vessel formation and maintenance in relation to diseases, particularly focusing on vascular mural cells and the role of fibroblasts in lung development and fibrosis. Greif's work seeks to yield insights into the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and pulmonary pathologies and translate these findings into novel therapeutic strategies. He is dedicated to engaging and mentoring young researchers from diverse backgrounds in vascular and lung research.
