Daniel Haschtmann is a consultant spine surgeon at the Schulthess Clinic in Zurich. He obtained his medical degree from the Institute of Microbiology and Infectious Medicine, Charité Berlin, Germany, in 2002. Following this, he commenced his orthopedic residency program at Charité - University Medicine Berlin, where he was actively involved in research projects concerning hip arthroplasty, analyzing radiographic implant migration and survival, as well as clinical outcomes while supervising medical doctoral thesis students. Between 2004 and 2006, he served as a research fellow at the MEM Research Center for Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Bern, focusing on posttraumatic intervertebral disc degeneration. He completed his residency program in Switzerland, passing the final exam in 2010. Since then, Haschtmann has been employed at the Schulthess Clinic, progressing from spine fellow to consultant by 2012. His research interests include early onset spinal deformities (EOSD), intervertebral disc biology, immune reactions, and radiographic image analysis, often in collaboration with ETH Zurich and ISTB University of Bern. He is actively engaged in teaching medical students through bedside teaching and propaedeutic courses and supervises PhD and master students as well as lectures for medical professionals.
