Biography

Dr. Daniel Havlichek graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1981. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Disease Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Since joining the faculty at Michigan State University in 1986, he has held various clinical, educational, and administrative positions within the Department of Medicine. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Infectious Diseases Division in the College of Human Medicine, where he is also the Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Dr. Havlichek is the course director for a year-long medical student course on Infectious Diseases and Immunology, and he regularly teaches within the Graduate Medical Education and Internal Medicine Residency program. His academic interests encompass the diagnosis and management of skin and soft tissue infections, HIV, and infectious disease prevention. In 2010, he was appointed as Chairperson of the IDSA Training Program Director's Committee and became a member of the DOD Gulf War Illness Research Program review committee.
