Dr. Daniel Ka Chun

Biography

Daniel Ka Chun is a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at the University of Manchester, specializing in Communication Engineering. He obtained his PhD degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003 and previously earned a BEng degree in the same field with First Class Honors from the University of Auckland in 1996. His research focuses on various aspects of wireless communications, including green communications, 5G/6G networks, machine learning applications in wireless communication, and non-orthogonal multiple access techniques. Over the years, he has taken on several leadership roles, such as Teaching and Learning Enhancement Lead and Director of Postgraduate Taught Programs. His editorial experience includes key positions with IEEE journals focused on Green Communications and Networking, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field. He has supervised numerous PhD students with ongoing research into optimizing energy efficiency in communication networks and has contributed extensively to committees and conferences within his area of expertise. He is recognized as a Chartered Engineer by the IET and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
