Dr. Kim is a board-certified general critical care surgeon specializing in trauma, surgical critical care, burns, and emergency elective general surgery. He is an Army veteran who served four tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, and is a retired Colonel with 20 years of active duty service. Dr. Kim holds a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed his residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He additionally pursued fellowship training in surgical critical care at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Army Institute of Surgical Research. Dr. Kim currently serves as an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine in the Division of General Surgery and Trauma Surgical Critical Care. He also instructs the Advanced Trauma Life Support program. His research interests include trauma burn resuscitation, soft tissue infections, skin substitute grafts, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
