Biography

Daniel Kraus is a Full Professor of Innovation Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Neuchâtel. He teaches general intellectual property law and biotechnology patents and leads a seminar on innovation law. Additionally, he teaches a course on health law for medical students. Daniel is regularly invited as a guest speaker at universities and his research focuses on balancing rights and exceptions in the field of intellectual property, for which he has been published frequently. He leads a European Union Framework Programme 7 funded study on national and international compulsory licenses within a broader international research project focused on access to pharmaceuticals, as well as projects under the Swiss National Research Foundation concerning intellectual property, pharmaceuticals, and traditional medicine. Apart from his academic role, Daniel is the head of international cooperation training at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property and maintains a parallel academic position at his law firm kraus.pro, where he is active in public affairs in the field of intellectual property. He also serves as a part-time judge at the Swiss Federal Patent Court and is a WIPO domain name panelist and arbitrator.
