Biography

Daniel Larsson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in the social and medical history of Sweden during the early modern period. He completed his Ph.D. in 2006 with a dissertation titled 'Hidden Transition,' which examined demographic transitions in Sweden during the 17th and 18th centuries. His subsequent research has focused on the socio-economic impacts of demographic crises, a topic he explored in his monograph on the cholera epidemic of the early 1830s, published by Carlssons Bokförlag in 2015. He is currently researching 18th-century subsistence crises and the effects of crop failures and plagues on mortality, supported by a project funded by the Swedish Research Council. His interdisciplinary work has also led him to engage in historical archaeology projects, including excavations in Nya Lödöse and studies of urban diaspora communities. Larsson's contributions include various publications on migration, social structures, and environmental history, reflecting his commitment to enhancing understanding of historical demographic changes.
