Biography

A/Prof Daniel Lemberg is a Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Clinical Medicine at UNSW Australia. He has an extensive clinical research background specializing in pediatric gastroenterology, particularly in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Lemberg has been pivotal in advancing our understanding of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying diseases such as Crohn's disease and has made significant contributions to the management of children and adolescents with IBD. His clinical expertise includes the use of exclusive enteral nutrition and probiotics. Since being appointed Head of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Sydney Children’s Hospital in 2010, he has directed the Children’s Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Clinic and is recognized for his innovative research utilizing next-generation sequencing technology to explore intestinal microbiota alterations in IBD. Furthermore, his research interests extend to coeliac disease and eosinophilic oesophagitis, focusing on clinical trends and treatment efficacy in these conditions. Lemberg has been honored with several awards, including the GESA Young Investigator Award, and actively engages in professional communities as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, while also contributing to the Gastroenterology Society of Australasia.
