Biography

Daniel Levy received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and his M.D. from the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Boston University in 1980. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University Hospital, Boston, and a research fellowship in cardiology at Brigham Women’s Hospital, Harvard School of Public Health. In 1984, he joined the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as the fourth director of the Framingham Heart Study. He is a professor of medicine at Boston University and holds an adjunct faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School. He has received numerous accolades for his research accomplishments, including the NIH Director’s Award and the American Heart Association’s Population Research Prize in 2009. Levy is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, and a member of the American Society of Hypertension and the Heart Failure Society of America. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Current Cardiovascular Risk Reports and has published over 400 articles in leading medical journals, books, and book chapters.
