Professor Dr. Daniel Lurcock

Biography

Daniel Lurcock is a Principal Enterprise Fellow at the University of Southampton, specialized in acoustic engineering with a focus on railway noise and vibration. He graduated from the University of Southampton in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Acoustical Engineering. Following his graduation, he spent seven years at Edinburgh Napier University where he worked in acoustics consulting, specifically in noise modeling. In 2011, he returned to the University of Southampton to pursue an Engineering Doctorate, concentrating on groundborne noise and vibration in buildings. After completing his doctorate in 2016, he continued to specialize in railway noise and vibration in a consulting capacity at the university. His work involves measurements and predictions of railway noise and vibration, and he has developed commercial software solutions such as 'Train Noise Expert' for industry clients. Daniel's expertise lies at the intersection of research and practical application in environmental noise measurement and software development.
