Biography

Daniel R. Matson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds both MD and PhD credentials and conducts research primarily in the field of hematopathology. His work focuses on the disorders of blood and bone marrow that have significant public health implications. Dr. Matson is particularly interested in the development of adult bone marrow, investigating the relatively small number of critical transcription factors that promote the complex and diverse cellular processes essential for proper hematopoiesis. His primary research emphasis is on the mechanisms by which these transcription factors interface with chromatin to modulate gene expression, which is a focal point of ongoing research in the Matson Laboratory. In addition to his research, he is involved in novel diagnostics and prognostics in hematopathology.
