Biography

Dr. Daniel McCurry is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California. He completed his Ph.D. in Civil Environmental Engineering with a minor in Chemistry at Stanford University in 2016. Prior to that, he earned his M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Yale University and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. His research focuses on protecting public health and improving the long-term safety of engineered water sources. He applies tools from environmental organic chemistry and analytical chemistry to address water quality challenges related to chemical disinfection technologies, particularly ultraviolet disinfection. His work emphasizes identifying the formation mechanisms of precursors to disinfection byproducts to facilitate prevention and ensure safe drinking water. Dr. McCurry has received the Rose Hills Foundation Research Fellowship in 2019 and the NSF CAREER Award in 2020.
