Dr. Daniel Mindiola

Biography

Daniel J. Mindiola is the Brush Family Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with honors from Michigan State University in 1996 and completed his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. Mindiola was a NIH FORD Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago from 2000 to 2002. He has held faculty positions at Indiana University-Bloomington, where he became an Assistant Professor in 2002, an Associate Professor in 2007, and a Full Professor in 2010. His research focuses on the synthesis of transition metal complexes that exhibit unique coordination environments and reactivity. His work includes the development of new reaction chemistries, studying transition metal radicals, and investigating the mechanisms of transformations that are significant for industrial processes. To date, Mindiola's group has produced more than 120 peer-reviewed scientific contributions.
