Dr. Daniel Perkins

Biography

Daniel F. Perkins is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education at Pennsylvania State University, where he serves as a Principal Scientist and the Founder of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness. With extensive expertise in Youth Family Resiliency, Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families, Daniel leads numerous applied research initiatives that evaluate and disseminate evidence-based programs. His focus includes community collaboration and implementation science, ensuring that research directly contributes to policy development and community services. He has been instrumental in securing funding from various foundations, including the National Science Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project, to support his research endeavors. As an advocate for military families, he actively engages in research that addresses their unique challenges and promotes their well-being. Daniel holds a Ph.D. in Family and Child Ecology from Michigan State University, alongside a Master's in Human Development and Family Studies and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing the mental health of veterans, military transitions, and resilience.
