Dr. Daniel Prieto Alhambra

Biography

Daniel Prieto-Alhambra is a Professor in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford. He serves as the Section Head of Pharmaco-Device Epidemiology and is an NIHR Senior Research Fellow. His research primarily focuses on the use of routinely collected health data, also known as real-world data, to generate reliable evidence to improve patient care. Prieto-Alhambra has extensive experience in the curation and analysis of multiple real-world data assets, particularly through the OMOP Common Data Model. He leads a team of 40 staff and students at the Botnar Institute and is involved in efforts such as the European Health Data & Evidence Network (EHDEN) and the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) initiative. His work addresses the utilisation, safety, and effectiveness of drugs and devices in typical practice conditions.
