Biography

Daniel Rigby is a professor at the University of Manchester specializing in applied Microeconomics with a focus on the economics of food, agriculture, and health. His expertise lies in survey design and analysis of related data, employing methods such as Discrete Choice Experiments and scaling techniques. Rigby has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Western Australia and as an Expert Member of the Food Standards Agency's Social Science Advisory Committee from 2018 to 2024. He also acts as an external examiner for prestigious institutions such as Imperial College London and York University. Notably, his interdisciplinary research is published in leading journals like World Development and Risk Analysis, covering significant topics such as environmental economics, health economics, and the economic impacts of food allergies and foodborne illnesses.
