Biography

Daniel Roth's research focuses on human-machine interfaces in medicine and health. Machine intelligence describes a holistic view of how humans and machines communicate. A large part of his work deals with artificial intelligence, as well as virtual, mixed, and augmented reality-based technologies. Examples include assistance systems for surgical procedures and systems for assessment and diagnosis of diseases and disorders, including robot-assisted rehabilitation. In September 2023, Prof. Roth was appointed to the professorship in Machine Intelligence for Orthopedics at the Technical University of Munich, working in the School of Medicine and Health at Klinikum rechts der Isar. Previously, he held the position of Junior Professor of Human-Centered Computing in Extended Reality within the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nuremberg. He studied Media Imaging Technology at TH Cologne and subsequently completed his doctorate in computer science at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.
