Biography

Daniel Rueckert is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Medicine at the Technical University of Munich. His research interests lie primarily in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, particularly their applications in medicine and healthcare. He focuses on developing innovative algorithms for biomedical image acquisition, analysis, and interpretation, notably in image reconstruction, registration, segmentation, tracking, and modeling. He has held significant positions in academia, including a professorship at Imperial College London and serving as Head of the Department of Computing at Imperial College from 2016 to 2020. He has received numerous awards, including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2025 and the MICCAI Enduring Impact Award in 2024. Rueckert holds an MSc from the Technical University of Berlin and a PhD from Imperial College London.
