Daniel Rueckert is a Professor of Visual Information Processing in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. He was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship in AI Medicine at the Technical University of Munich and serves as the Director of the Institute for AI in Informatics Medicine. Daniel obtained his Diploma in Computer Science from the Technical University of Berlin in 1993 and completed his PhD at Imperial College London in 1997. Following his post-doctoral work at King’s College London, he joined Imperial College as a Lecturer in 1999, rising to Senior Lecturer in 2003 and being promoted to Full Professor in 2005. He served as the Head of the Department of Computing from 2016 to 2020. His research includes extensive work in Medical Imaging with over 500 journal and conference articles and more than 100,000 citations. He has graduated 60 PhD students and supervised 40 post-doctoral researchers. Daniel is an elected Fellow of several prestigious organizations and has received numerous accolades, including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2025.
