Daniel T. Schwartz is the Boeing-Sutter Professor in Chemical Engineering and the founding director of the University of Washington Clean Energy Institute (CEI). Since its establishment in 2013, CEI has been dedicated to advancing next-generation solar energy and battery materials and devices, along with their integration into grid systems. Schwartz's research focuses on transportation phenomena and reactions in electrochemical systems, as well as the performance of complex electrodes used in energy storage and conversion. He has also served on the Technical Advisory Board for Washington’s Energy Strategy from 2012 to 2018 and has received numerous accolades, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Science Foundation.
