Biography

Daniel Singleton is the Davidson Chair at Texas A&M University's College of Arts and Sciences, specializing in Organic and Organometallic Chemistry. His research focuses on the study of reaction mechanisms, utilizing a range of techniques to examine kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) and their implications for understanding organic reactions. Since the mid-1990s, he has developed methods for high-precision combinatorial determination of KIEs using natural abundance NMR, which is significantly faster compared to methods requiring labeling. Singleton's innovative methodologies have made it feasible to study complex reactions that were previously deemed impractical. His group integrates theoretical and computational approaches alongside experimental methodologies to establish critical details about reaction mechanisms. In addition to his research, Singleton has received numerous accolades, including the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award and the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of Students. With a robust educational background that includes a B.S. from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, he has also completed a NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, emphasizing his extensive expertise in the field.
