Dr. Daniel Sorin

Biography

Daniel Sorin is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. His research interests primarily focus on computer architecture, with a strong emphasis on dependability. Sorin has contributed significantly to various facets of computer architecture, particularly in the areas of designing microarchitectures that are easier to verify, improving fault tolerance in computer systems, and developing memory systems for multicore processors. He has held significant positions, including Associate Chair in his department, and has been recognized as a Bass Fellow. Sorin has a notable academic background, holding a B.S. from Duke University obtained in 1996, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison achieved in 1998 and 2002, respectively. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous editorial boards and committees, contributing to the advancement of his field. Sorin is a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery and has received various accolades for his contributions to engineering education and research.
