Biography

Daniel Stighäll specializes in historical trombone models and historical performance practice, focusing on medieval, renaissance, and baroque music. He has worked with various ensembles across Europe, including Göteborg Baroque, Ars Nova Copenhagen, Concerto Copenhagen, and others. Currently, he is pursuing a doctoral degree in musical performance at Luleå University of Technology, collaborating closely with his own ensemble, SERIKON. As the artistic leader of SERIKON, he creates projects aimed at reviving historical music, emphasizing improvisation and collaboration with contemporary composers. His work encompasses producing concerts, including collaborations that have led to the premiering of new compositions. SERIKON has been active since 2009, and Stighäll has produced numerous performances, including the madrigal comedy 'La pazzia senile' as part of his doctoral thesis. He has received multiple scholarships, including from the Stockholm Bach Choir and the Bernadotte Scholarship for his contributions to musical work and research. In autumn 2023, he assumed the position of head of the classical music church music unit at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg.
